Welcome

... to our beautiful medieval church, the only church in England dedicated to St Petronilla.  Whether you wish to worship with us, or simply spend some quiet time in our church building, you are most welcome.  The church is open during daylight hours each & every day.

Worship

Please check here for our regular services.  Any alterations to the usual service pattern should be shown on the latest monthly rota, available here.  The church is regularly used for Sunday worship and, on Tuesdays during term-time, for  weekday Morning Prayer.

Our worship is within the Central tradition of the Church of England, using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and the modern Common Worship forms of service.  Children are welcome at all services, and toys can be made available if necessary!

After worship, you are welcome to stay for coffee (and a croissant breakfast after the monthly 8 o'clock service).

Getting here

St Petronilla's is on Church Hill, just off the B1066 in the centre of the village.  There is a small church car park just after you pass the church on your left.

History

There has been worship offered on this site since Saxon times, but the oldest parts of today's church are thirteenth century.  Of particular note are the two fine thirteenth century windows in the south side of the chancel.

Before the Reformation, the church was dedicated to St Thomas Beckett.
